RESPONSE TO KEYNOTE Explicit design space?

چکیده
This paper examines the need for explicit representations of the design space, in response to Woodbury and Burrow. Specifically, their proposal for a particular search strategy, by means of which one can reuse past experiences explicitly represented by previously traversed paths, is examined. This is done by exploring issues with respect to design search and representation in general, while relating these to specific issues raised by Woodbury and Burrow. The paper concludes by suggesting that their arguments essentially point to devising an appropriate “programming language” for

Dynamics of Space Free-Flying Robots with Flexible Appendages
A Space Free-Flying Robot (SFFR) includes an actuated base equipped with one or more manipulators to perform on-orbit missions. Distinct from fixed-based manipulators, the spacecraft (base) of a SFFR responds to dynamic reaction forces due to manipulator motions. In order to control such a system, it is essential to consider the dynamic coupling between the manipulators and the base. Explicit d...

In-Between Space, Dialectic of Inside and Outside in Architecture
Defining space by dividing it to inside and outside is one of human’s ways to recognize his positionin environment. Architecture is created to response to this need for inside/outside spaces. Design of inside and outsideSpaces and relation between them always has been one of necessities for definition and limitation of human livingspaces, but little attention to relation of this two spatial rea...
متن کاملModelling and Design of a Microstrip Band-Pass Filter Using Space Mapping Techniques
Determination of design parameters based on electromagnetic simulations of microwave circuits is an iterative and often time-consuming procedure. Space mapping is a powerful technique to optimize such complex models by efficiently substituting accurate but expensive electromagnetic models, fine models, with fast and approximate models, coarse models. In this paper, we apply two space mapping, a...
متن کاملKeynote: Sounding Public Space: Sound Artists in the Public Domain
The right to quiet has been defined as a public commons (Franklin, 1993). Public space in Australia is becoming increasingly sound designed. This presentation investigates the variety of approaches by sound artists who have installed public space drawing on the three year ARC Australian Sound Design Project's research, website, http://www.sounddesign.unimelb.edu.au and public outreach Hearing P...
